i have a 20 g quarantine tank with two red eye puffers and 3 sap and 2 dwarf. my ph is about 6.8 -7.0 and my nitrate and ammonia is 0 i do 20 % water changes every day before i cycle there meds which right now is clout meds and also with quick cure because 1 of the sap has ick..its been bad and contagious but only with puffers not any other fish.... they get these parts on there skin that are round and look like ulcers or somtninhg.. its a pretty perfect circle.. it looks like someone got a qtip and rubbed some of there skin off... it also has somthing to do with fin rot or a fin eating disease because it all started on new red eye puffers with what i thought was fin rot.....advice?

that's waaayyy too many to be in the same tank. even for quarantine. that may be part of the problem....

Thats the point of the large daily water changes because the tank is small. In a perfect world several quarantine tanks would be ideal but 1 quarantine tank is better than none.

Do yo have any pics redeyeguy of the offending areas?

I thought their might be a personality problem (stress?) because they are all together. you can do water changes, but that won't make them get along in there...

maybe I'm just dumb :)
the pic will surely help though.

You know more then you give yourself credit for! Quit saying "maybe I'm just dumb"!

I agree, the spot sounds like a bite. Can you post a pic redeyeguy? You might need to try to seperate the fish in QT. Double check but you may want to treat the wounds with melafix and pimafix as well.

yes i do agree that the tank is quite small for all those little guys but i cant risk them getting any other puffers sick in my main tank... i do big water changes everyday and there chemestry is good as far as stress the amazons kind of do there own thing and dont bug the redeyes and vice versus it is a pretty haveliy planted tank with plenty of caves and places to hide so.... the illness all started from new red eye puffer in my main tank and started to spread to the amazon guys so i satrted quarantining the ones with physical illness.. i have treated for fin rot once already now im doing clout and ick... they actually seem to be doing a little better every day but it seems like its some internal parasite or somthin just because no meds really are giving me the effect i am really looking for... also i have introduced salt to the tank.... very slightly

Well, if they were bitten, the wound might have gotten infected/parasites, which can be a problem. Do you have any plastic screen or mesh? You can put that into the quarantine tank to divide the puffers so they can't get to each other (might be tough with the dwarfs, but yeah). For ones with bites, usually Melafix and Pimafix will do the job.

I don't know much about the other ailments, though. Sorry!

Those are puffer bites. They are probably distracted whenever you are in the room, but go about their own aggressive puffery business when you're out.
