Ok heres the deal. i want either a ceylon or a gsp. i am willing to get the bigger tank for the ceylon. i want a puff that is nice and colorful and on the large side. it would seem that ceylons are bigger but not as bright, and the gsp's have the bright white belly. please help me decide on my next puff!!!! :)

Our Ceylons have bright bellies too, it just depends on their mood. Ceylons aren't as common as GSP's though.

Depends on how long you want to wait for a puffer. Celyons aren't seen that often, IMO.

Ceylons are far mor rare... or at least they tend to be sold as Fig 8's and only those in the know can tell that they're not....

that's how i got mine, bought a fig 8, got it home, found out it was a ceylon...

As for colouring, ceylons look more natural, sandy green and yellow colours... GSP tend to look shinier and more luminous..

My ceylon is now doing a wonderful impression of a mbu.. with his mottled, sandy and green colours..!

He does have a white belly... and i'm very proud of it. :-)

Yeah, mine both have bright white bellies. I bought Pickles because he had cool dark spots along the bottom/sides of his belly, and then when I got him home and settled in, his belly went all white and he lost the cool spots! I'm glad he's happy, but now he's not as distinguished, haha.

Both the GSP and Ceylons are cute in their own right. They both have little smiles on their face and are both pretty active and inquisitive. Basically it comes down to whether you like lots of spots or only a few spots near the belly... and, of course, which ones you can find at the LFS. :)

I bought a DP labeled a Ceylon once.
I'd go for a GSP, except if you can find a Ceylon then get a ceylon.
