I find it quite interesting that 96% of the fishes stomach is based on 2 foods only and they are found foraging in the mangrove roots, this is all good stuff.

Would it be a good assumption that if they inhabit the mangrove roots and as mangroves can tolerate such a big range of salinity then aiming somewhere bang in the middle of fresh and full marine would be a good place to start and go for a mangrove looking setup if one is found to buy.

I have mangroves in my brackish tank with T. nigroviridis. They look nice, but they are such slow growers, sometimes 2 leaves a month...

Many mangroves can also grow in fresh and marine water btw, the torpedo seeds of Rhizopora mangle are widely available.

Another disadvantage of mangroves is, either you have an open tank with hanging lights or you have to leave some inches free of water and treat them like bonsai trees (many get 30m in nature). If you don't cut them and bind them down, they will be burned by the lights.
