is it ok for me to keep her in my 10g tank for maybe 2 more months at the most? i might not be able to afford a nice 55g setup for her until after i get my income tax check... or should i get a 20g long until i can get the 55? cause my stand was made for up to 20g aquariums and i have a 10-30 powerfilter... i cant seem to find a nice enough used 55g right now and i feel guilty about not being able to give my ceylon a big tank. shoot i cant remember if it said 20 or 29g on the box from the stand...

I imagine the puffer could survive if it's only 1 inch and you plan on having the 55g soon. However, I'm no expert at all, so you might want to wait for a response from someone more reputable. ^_^

Is this a GSP? I would go with the 20g until you can find a 55gal.

I've had my GSP Milton in a 10 gallon for the two months I've had him until I could raise enough/find a good price for a 55, which I'm getting tomorrow!!!! yay for Milton!

I just made sure to do 50% water changes every week and test the water parameters often. He is also only about an 1inch long

10g should suffice <2", if you keep up w/WC.

thanks for the quick replies! well we went to petsmart and i got a 20g set up. im going to give the filter and heater from it to my boyfriend who is going to get my 10g. im going to use my own filter cause its a 10-30 and heater cause i spent like $20 on it when i first got my ceylon. so tomorrow when i get home and move her into the 20g, ill put her with tank water and all the plants into my biggest fish bucket then put all the gravel and sand into the 20g with most of the water and let it run for a while before i put my ceylon into it. does that seem ok? it should get cycled quick with my old filter and gravel in it, right?

Use all of the old tank water if possible. Use the same substrate and filter cartridge and everything. Try and keep the water at a steady temperature. Don't worry about the water being dirty from the 10 Gallon, if you keep up with your WC's, they should all be fine. Don't do any WC's until about a week after you set up the 20G. 20G will be fine for a smaller puffer for life, unless it's gonna get bigger. Good luck. What type of fish will your bf get?

i dont know. probably a few bottom feeders that can take care of the snail population heh do cories eat snails regularly? i saw some albino ones and theyre so cute!

Yes, cories are cute, but they don't eat snails regularly. Clown loaches do, but they need a bigger tank in the long run. Cories stay less than 3.5 inches fully grown, and are usually 1.5 inches for most of their lives. A dwarf puffer eats snails jk

I don't know why you went & bought a brand new 20g when he's eventually gonna need a much larger tank. Unless you plan on upgrading again & having LOTS of tanks around the house, like me.

I suppose you could keep him in the 20G for a couple of months until you get a 55G.

LOL You might consider getting a 40 gallon or larger ta. I would suggest a 75G once it's full grown. What other brackish fish could you keep with it? Probably not mollies, maybe monos.

It's that darn multiple tank syndrome. Coupled with the puffer bug, tanks will multiply like crazy.

Hadla, you have only 1 ceylon right? Our's started looking cramped in their 20g when they were about 1.5". We had 2 in there and it just didn't seem like they have enough swimming room. Now they share a 120g

120G? Wow. That's a lot of H2O.
