This LOOKs like Carinotetraodon salivator, the puffer I am REALLY in wanting of, If you've read my post.

But it SAYS it Carinotetraodon irrubesco.

Please tell me if you believe this to be a Carinotetraodon salivator or a Carinotetraodon irrubesco

I really want a C. Salivator. Really bad D:

I think this is the Carinotetraodon irrubesco.
Very rare to find Carinotetraodon salivator, atleast here in America.

Bah, I want to find a C Salivator.

It there a real big difference between the two?

Carinotetraodon irrubesco

Known as the red-tailed red-eye pufferfish, this species is similar to the preceding one but both sexes have red tails. Instead of yellow bands, the males have light brown to cream-coloured bands. Female Carinotetraodon irrubesco are very similar to female Carinotetraodon lorteti, but instead of being uniformly cream-coloured, the undersides of these fish bear short, squiggly brown markings. Carinotetraodon irrubesco are usually shy and fairly easy-going fish, and have been kept successfully in community tanks with fast-moving species such as tetras. Even so, some specimens do become confirmed fin-nippers or simply outright aggressive, so adding these to a community tank is chancy. They do mix well with South American puffers though, the two species entirely ignoring one another. Red-tailed red-eye puffers have been bred in aquaria, though infrequently.

Carinotetraodon salivator

Known as the striped red-eye puffer, males of this species are most similar to male Carinotetraodon lorteti, but when in breeding condition the flanks, dorsal surface, and entire head region are marked with zebra-like light and dark brown stripes. Outside of breeding condition these stripes are far less vivid, but they should still be easily discernible. Females can identified easily by the continuous longitudinal bands running along the belly from the throat to the base of the tail; while female Carinotetraodon irrubesco also have markings on their bellies, in that species the markings are irregular spots and squiggles. All in all, an exceptional species, but sadly as good as never traded. An aquarist lucky enough to obtain some of these fish should certainly consider trying to spawn them, as this has not yet been accomplished in an aquarium. Said to be fairly aggressive in aquaria and a fin-nipper.

Haha, okay, so how aggressive are they with each other? and how many could maybe fit in my 29 gal?

Maybe now I know where I can find them, I might wait till I can get another tank. I want to get a SAP first if anything.

Minimum tank size is about 20 gallons. And as far as getting along with others....it is kind of hit or miss with puffers, like people they have their own little attitudes. While one can be timid as can be, another can nip a fin clear off.

I'd go with 1 pair.

That is a pic of an Irrubesco.

You will definitely have more luck with Irrubesco that with Salivator. Salivator are notoriously difficult to keep in a single pair, a large group has been discussed as the best way to go with this species however that also means a lot of money and no guarantee of success.

My salivator pair is getting along very well
But I think I'm just very lucky and have a large tank

I think the best is to buy a male and two females (irrubesco)

My irrubesco pair is doing very fine together. Earlier they used to sleep together. They've stopped doing that now, but they are still doing fine. No aggression...yet...

My salivator, on the other hand, was doing fine in the shop, together with Taly's pair and his own wife. But as soon as Taly bought hers, and he was on his own with his wife, he killed her. That's why I gave him the name Jack the Ripper. So I agree on not keeping a single pair of Salivators.
