I've had my gsp for about 6 months I think....and I've seen him puff once ever. i don't know why.
Is there any videos of gsp's puffing I've searched and searched and can't find.
Has anyone else's gsp puffed???

My GSP, Bolla, puffed a bit (but not totally) when she got stuck in the plastic bag when I moved her to her new tank a few months ago. Luckily she didn't get any problem afterward. I was afraid she had puffed on air.

I have never seen it before but I am sure it can happen.

One time I flipped on the lights early one morning before sunrise and my GSP, who was awake at the time, was apparently so startled that he jumped clean out the tank - and landed on the counter. Well, I was freaking out about as much as the GSP probably was and was sure he was going to puff up on air but luckily it didn't happen; I got him right back in the tank and after sulking for just a bit he was right back begging for food. So basically I don't know what it takes to trigger their "puffing" - not just shock/stress but perhaps in reaction to another species entering their territory? (By the way, the GSP is fine and swimming next to me right now apparently no worse for wear - no GSPs were harmed in the making of this post!) Luckily is hasn't happened to mine.

I've never seen any of mine puff either. Perhaps it takes a lot to make GSP's puff? But I think there is one site where there is a picture. I'll try and find it if I can.

It seems FW and BW puffers puff much much less then SW.

I have never seen my Modestus puff (thankfully). Anybody seen theirs? And I also have heard that some puffers puff just for fun or practice, but mostly sw.

I was thinking about this yesterday. lol. My GSP has never puffed, and I've never seen one that has.

I'd love to see a full grown Mbu puff :O (not that I'd ever make one puff, I just think it'd be an awesome sight)

I have spotted my Ceylon puffing once. His tank is in the front porch of our house. I was on my way out to work one morning when I opened the adjoining door that leads to the porch and there he was in full splender. He was about the size of a Cricket ball....I must admit, it took a second for it to register what he was doing (it was early morning..I was sleepy...lol) and for a split secong I panicked thinking that something was wrong with him. It was quite a sight Never seen him do it since

I found this picture in the internet, there is not background story behind it and it sucks that the little guy had to go out this way but it sure does look like a Green Spotted Puffer. I don't know about those spines though.

Looks like a GSP to me.

I didn't know their spines were so big though.
