Hi guys,

I move next week and will be setting up the 400l (~100G for those over the water) corner FOWLR tank as soon as I can!

It's sole inhabitant will be Jerry the GSP until I know everything is running ok then I shall decide what else to stock with...any ideas folks? He is an unusually calm and peaceful puffer and I think would be ok with most things.

He lived with other fish for a few months at the LFS but I didn't take this as proof. However when I emptied out his tank before putting him in the smaller 'holding' tank until the marine tank is set up I found the five shrimp I thought I had 'fed' him throughout his time in there. He now lives with two of them in the small tank and ignores them as they swim around or crawl about. I suspect they will be gone before too long but at present he just isnt interested!!

I would love to make the tank dedicated to puffers...what do the more experienced (than me!!)marine puffer keepers think?

How big is he? Is he an adult? We aren't sure of the long-term effects on keeping a juvie in SW. most fast-moving fish should work. I had mine lifing with another GSP & Ceylon, damselfish, tomato clownfish (don't get a maroon--too mean or percs--too gentle), & wrasses would work well too.

He's about 2 1/2 inches, maybe three at the moment. I'd love to have a valentini...do you think the two would be ok? They should have enough tank space to set up their own teritories if they don't get on!

If they don't get along, one will probably be dominant and nip the other one endlessly. Or they both nip at each other. If you are going to try tank mates, be prepared to have a separate tank just it case it doesn't work out, or talk to the store and see if they will let you take the fish back before hand.

I think the Val has a much more gentle disposition than an adult GSP. The GSP will be at least double the mass too.

Cheers PP and Spoot,

I get on well with the owner of the lfs so before i buy will check I can return if there is a problem. Won't be for a month at least yet I want to make sure everything is perfect before I add any more stock.
