The Puffer Forum

Well, we got our 2 f8 puffers about 6 weeks ago, as expected sold as freshwater, (now slowly going into brackish). Not long after getting them settled, I noticed, one of them (Keith) had quite long teeth, or rather beak. I tried to resolve this by feeding small snails, but it was obvious he was having trouble eating, the other F8 (Gordon) had no problems at all!. I am fortunate enough to have a vet friend that specialises in fish, he has a practice not far away so I asked for his opinion. So, last week Keith went on a little trip to the vets, his top and bottom teeth were so overgrown he would of probably not ever eaten properly and died, bless, he's only just over an inch big !!! He was given a GA, and taken out the water when ready, the vet then clipped the worst off, then used a mini dremel type burr to file them right down, Keith didn't stir. He was then put in the recovery bag, and we waited in anticipation while he came round, quite sweet, all the vet nurses went ahhhhhhh, good job they know me well!! Vet has done this before, but said usually does post mortems on fish this small
So all in all, it went very well, left it till today to post, just to make sure Keith is OK, lets just say, he sure is a greedy little fishy now!
