I know that it is reccomened for 30 gallons each for a GSP but could I do a 50 Gallon for 2 GSP puffers? With the dimensions I can fit in a 50 Gallon but a 75 Gallon Will not fit (too long). I still have not found a 60 Gallon.

30g is the MINIMUM recommended tank size for 1. My adult GSP would have been happy in a 55g by itself. Look into corner bowfronts. I think they're around 62g.

Thanks, I was thinking it had to do with "footprint" if I said that right. In other words more space on the bottom of the tank. Never even thought of a corner tank. I will check on the corner tank this weekend.

Get a 65, it's same footprint as a 50 but taller, has enough water to support the puffers needs, it is of course slightly lacking in footprint space, and as such the puffers will have to "like" each other. A corner 56 is a popular one around here I suppose you could squeeze two GSP into, but I think the 65 would be better if you have room for one.

As long as I have had them (approx 2 - 3 months) they seem to really like each other. They stay pratically on top of each other when I watch them. When I am not looking I can see their reflection and they are surfing around the tank. They are in a 44 gallon right now with lots of decor. I know I need to get a bigger tank soon and I am searching for one. I am now starting them with brackish waters. I have them at .002 and I will be raising it slowy every week. I was hoping that after I get them raised I would have a new tank ready for them to be moved to. I plan to use the same HOB on their tank now and add a canister to that also on the new tank. I will also be using the sand that is in their tank and possibly adding a little more sand to the new tank. I was hoping this would make it an instant cycle by using everthing that is in the tank they are in and moving it to the new tank.

If you're shifting everything over from your old tank, you should be fine with an instant cycle. Always worth keeping an eye on the tank parameters the first week after though just to make sure all the parameters stay normal.

Great news!!!! I found a 120 gallon tank that won't kill my wallet!!! I will be picking it up on Thursday. The only problem is that it is 6ft long. I may have to get rid of the sofa. My husband said after this "NO MORE TANKS!!!" I'm not sure if I understand just what he is talking about. Anyway I am so excited, my 2 GSP puffers will have lots of room in just two more days. I was just so excited I had to share it with someone!!!!!!!!!!

One more question: I have fallen in love with the dragon doby, I think that is what they are called. Once I get this tank would it be okay to put one in with the puffers or will I be better off just leaving the two of them alone in the tank.

It will die at their optimal SG, I'm pretty sure. Why not make it into a "puffer reef" with tons of LR, a skimmer, and nasty tasting corals? You could even add another couple medium size puffers to it, or one big guy, like maybe a dog face. Dragon gobys are low brackish fish as far as I know, so I'd steer away from them.

Now that sounds good..... A puffer reef. I have lots of coral (not live) I have been collecting for my upcoming tank. I don't think I am quite ready for live coral just yet. I heard they were pretty hard to keep. I am also still adjusting my puffers SG. I now have them up to a 1.004. A friend did tell me today that his local Wal-Mart has some GSP's. And believe it or not there is also a small paragraph attached to the tank saying that they are brackish and what they eat. I couldn't believe it. I might just stick with the two I have until I go full marine. I might even sneak in a few hermit crabs later on.

How high does the SG have to be for live rock? I would like to add that later also. I guess I need to do a little more research. Thanks for the advise. No dragon for me. ...........

1.018 is min for live rock and skimming as far as I know, and your puffers will probably grow faster etc in a huge tank with no tankmates while they are young.

that would be cool to have another pufferspecies. maybe u could go for a toby.
