I have a new 15g tank. I'd like to get get it cycled by early next month or so.

I have a feeder tank with a few hundred rossy reds. Can I take 5 or so and cyle this brackish tank?

Most people here advise against using fish for cycling.

It shoudn't be necessary to feed live foods to anything. Who are you feeeding them too? Please read the fishless cycling article in our Library. Way faster & no fish are harmed in the process (even though some may consider feeders throw-away fish)..

The feeders are for a Rock Bass and Jack Dempsey. If you don't believe in feeders or using fish for cycling that's okay, but that's not my view 8)

Neither of those fish need to eat live food. Why? Not the best diet for your fish either.
