Hello there

I've just cycled a new 200 litre aquarium, and would like to put in a Tetraodon palambangensis and a couple of Plecos. However i have also read that this puffer may cohabit with the arrowhead puffer (tetraodon suvatti) My loval Aquatic centre has a 2 inch palambangensis and also a couple of 2 inch arrowheads.

My current tank is a 90 litre with 6 dwarf puffers, 2 colonessus and 4 bumblebee gobies + 12 tetras

I would like some advice on whether this is a good idea or not - ideally i would like to introduce both puffers at the same time so they can establish their territories at the same time, rather than one deciding that the whole tank is their new territory.

Or would it make more sense to have two arrowheads intogether, or is it just a bad idea and get the palembangensis by himself?


I have set up a number of hiding places (4), caves etc... However need some advice pls

Also the Aquatic centre has both in Brackish water, however everything i've read and heard contradicts this.

Welcome. I would not recommend a palembang with anything, not even the plecos. They are hunters and are killers and rarely live nicely with anything else. In addition, a 200 litre tank would not be sufficient for three fish with huge bioloads such as puffers and plecos.

Palembangs and arrowheads are both pure freshwater.
