Hi im new here my name is noelle.. I currently have 3 green spotted puffer dwarfs living in a 30 gal fw tank... and out of the 3 one isnt eating.. I am a bit concerned. I feed them frozen brime shrimp, and frozen blood worms at the moment. I am thinking about purchasing some other types of frozen food. I wanted to buy the baby snails for them but for some reason the pet stores around here arent selling them, such as petco, and petland. I dont think her teeth are over grown, so I see no reason why she isnt eating. If you could help me or give me advice that would be great

Is your cycled? If not tey're dying. If you can ask Petco for BIO-spira. It should cycle your tank.

First you need to find out what species of puffer you have. Spotted puffers are one type, dwarf puffers are another. Both are very different, and if you have spotted puffers, that tank is all wrong for them and that would explain a lot of why one is sick. Can you get a photo? Otherwise, browse our PufferPedia, look under both freshwater and brackish to figure out which species you have.

How long has the tank been set up? Do you have any test kits to check for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings? That will tell us for sure if its cycling yet, as ammonia is very toxic to puffers. They are scaleless fish and very sensitve to anything being wrong in their tank.

In the mean time, the best possible thing you can be doing for your fish is lots of water changes. Try to change out 50% daily with clean, dechlorinated (if you are on city water) water, to keep it as clean as possible.
