Green Spotted Puffer - Belly Colour Changes

My three Green Spotted Puffers are settling in nicely, and I am enjoying getting to learn about their characters. Two are more boisterous than the third, who is more of a lurker, but he is still getting his share of the food.

I have notices that their bellies seem to change colour throughout the day ..... in the morning they seem to be mottled grey, turning to pure white by the evening time. It doesn't seem to be related to whether they have eaten or not, unless I am mistaken. Has anyone else noticed this or can suggest why this happens?

They are all around 11/2 inches long at the moment, excluding tail....

My answer is a complete guess, so it's not official.....

My GSP does the same thing...and I've seen many pics of other puffer with the grey belly thing going on....

Chompers belly goes grey when he eats fast...I was wondering if maybe it's just the skin stretching?

Sometimes he goes grey without eating though....so I figure he's upset about something. Maybe he needs to poop?? Maybe it means he's tired?..or stressed about something?

Sometimes they do it just because, sometimes its one of the first indications of something wrong with the tank. Check all of the water parameters and if he is otherwise acting normally, I wouldn't worry too much.

Mine did it at feeding time.
