Congratulation.
I have Suvattii fry now that is about 1,5 month old. Great little hungry ones.
The feeding has been ok, but a lot of work.
This is a quick guide of what I have done to raise the fry. Maybe it can be of some help.

I started mine on artemia. Made a saltwater aquarium and just took the food as needed. After that I started to fish live food from a lake near by and a big water bowl in the garden.
This I have done until know. The fry is starting to eat frozen food.

15 fry up and about. Buzzing around. I have never seen fry move as fast as these guys,

Are they eating readily?

They are that small you cannot possibly tell. i am maintaining good water conditions and supplying plenty of food. Thats all i can do for now.The rest is fingers crossed.

Well it just goes to show you. I am cleaning the suvatti main tank when I disturb the plants. A moment later out swims a suvattii fry. Its fairly big so he must be from the first batch of eggs. Amazing! I have pics , will post later.

Congratulations rina it was your pitures that inspired me to put some slate into the tank. They wouldn't lay before the slate. After that was put in they have laid twice. Thanks for sharing the great pictures.

Wow. That's tiny! can you give a sense of scale? What kind of leaf is that? Looks kind of like a java fern.

Yep that is a java fern and that is the lone fry I found survived in the main tank. I believe that to be from the first batch so it would be aound 20 days old.

You see how small they are so credit goes to rina's photography skills.

Hehe… Pictures sometimes say more than words. I am happy and thankful for the help I have got, and it is a good feeling if I can help as well or give some help back. So it’s great if my pictures help. After all it is to the benefit of the fish.

A question: My pair has laid eggs 5-6 times (I think). But I have not been so lucky to actually see when the female laid the eggs. But I know she only needs max. 2 minutes to lay about 400 eggs.
It sounds like you have seen when she lay the eggs, could you tell some detail?

Yesterday I think I say the male “fertilize” the eggs. (Laughing, I don’t know the correct English saying, hope you understand). I had just turned away for 2 minutes (grr), then the eggs was laid and the male was “running” quick all over and around the eggs. After some time he started to slow down and just fan the eggs as normal. I’m guessing he was “Fertilizing” the eggs, but it is just a guess.

The fry at the java fern seems very small if it is 20 days old. I would have guessed, that it is a egg that has hatch in the parents aquarium.
I let my eggs hatch whit the parents, when they starts to hatch, I just fish them up with a net and I also get some when I clean the sand. The parents don’t eat them.

About the pictures, I’m using a Canon 350D. When I move the fry, I try to use a little bowl, and take pictures when the fry is in the bowl.

How are the little ones doing? Do you give them Artemia? Artemia = Brime shrimp I’ve been told. I can see the fry eating them from day one. Only problem is to have enough of them.

This became a log writing… sorry I’m “bussing” ehm... "busting in" like this, it is just so interesting to follow and exchange information whit another person. No one in Denmark has been able to bread these fish yet.
