I think if HD knows what hes doing then he should go BW? Brackish Puffers are surprisingly easy to look after if you can maintain good water quality and optimum SG for your fish. People cannot learn if they are disuaded from doing so?

Im one for teaching people rather dwelling on their inexperience. I mean well look at me I started out by keeping a fahaka raising from 2" to 9" in less than a year after giving him away. I jumped straight from FW to SW not even bothering with brackish fish as I was attracted by the exotic look of SW puffers. But where i went wrong was I was driven by selfish obsession to have that puffer I saw in the window rather than doing my research first that led to my first Dogface Puffer dying within in a week where the tank was uncycled and I didnt even have a skimmer on it or Liverock (inexperience)!

Now if you continue to persuade HD to go freshwater maybe he will listen for a while but eventually the urge to get that BW puffer will be so great he will go out and buy it anyway while having a gap in his knowledge on how to setup a Brackish Tank which thus will inadvertently lead to his BW puffer dying due to some Avoidable Problem like water quality or lack of equipment.

My point is rather than dissuading him if we teach how him to setup a successful BW tank then when he gets that Brackish Puffer he will be ready to look after it. Coz lets face it once you want a puffer theres no stopping you and with Knowledge in mind, thats Peace of Mind to me

we have tried but links arent followed i also believe in the go for it theory but please read the whole thread i pride myself on my near perfect waterquality will test any of my 5 tanks at will but pvr has limited time/knowledge. i hate to disuade but feel this time is probably just and like i say others agree. dont want to pee u off tho this is a tough 1

how would i know my sg without one? ofc i have one! dissuading me is pretty much telling me i put all this time and effort for nothing. Yes im trying to read everything but going like read this read that is a bit overwhelming! I really appreciate Walrus Head for supporting me on that. its gonna be really hard to dissuade out of getting F8's, yes i am aware i have to get rid of my fish, but rides aren't as easy as they seem. My brother drives, but doesnt give a damn about fish so he won't do anything. Both of my parents work and have to take care of 2 other kids.... I cant just go out and buy things guys! Just remember what its like to be a kid who REALLY likes fish and REALLY wants to get a new type of fish they really like. just like me and F8's

And that makes complete sense. However, for our sanity ( ) why don't you read all of the information given 3 times. As you do that write down any questions you have. Also give us a list of everything that you have already and we can let you know what you still need.

If you do a very thorough job on this then it will be easier for us to help you.
