It's just something I've learned from being in the hobby for several years. You will too...
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

I guess small bits of live rock won't make or break the ocean. But, I will support the live rock trade sadly. Maybe I will get some..

I understand your concerns. Thing is, some companies aquaculture live rock... this website even has a paragraph about "eco-sensitive live rock": http://tbsaltwater.com/

I haven't ordered from them before; just wanted to possibly ease your mind about purchasing LR...

Walt Smith cultures his own LR. http://waltsmith.com/

How's the skimmer? Did you get it to fit right?

Not really fit right, but it is pumping water. Powerhead filter, all of it seems to be working OK. Only issue is there is nothing in the cup/basket at all?

Make sure the foot of the cup is about 1/8" into the water. What's your SG now?

The plastic foot is totally submerged. And the actual cup is 1/8/1/4 of an inch covered. SG is 1.021-1.022

Only the bottom of the foot should be submerged. Are there a million bubbles in the chamber under the foot?

My mother adjusted the air valve thing, and there are bubbles now. There wasn't any before she did that, though. There are lots of them.

Yep, you need lots-o-bubbles to skim.

Takes time to break in. Are bubbles going up the neck of the cup yet?
