Sadly, on saltwater animals, no since they have "specialized care"...the guy told me I could get the other GCG instead since he was beginning to look bad in the bag[and he was tapping the bag which made me kinda grab it from him...lol], but my dad was really ready to go home[ugh...those non fish people...

] and I said I was ok to risk it since Pyro, my firefish, looked bad when I bought him[maybe just as bad] and he turned out ok...
It's partly my fault for being ready to go home too, because it was 8:45PM and there was a 45 minute drive back home, in the dark...

Things are continuing to go well in my tank, luckily...All the cyano is gone and there is no bad algae to speak of...
I also got my GSP frag recently...it's doing pretty well, already spreading!
I counted 50 dwarf cerith snails yesterday and that's after getting rid of 16...I need to get rid of some more soon...otherwise the only change in stock is the loss of the scarlet reef crab. IDK what happened there but everybody seems ok and the water parameters checked out...I want to get a few more hermits soon since it's just the 2 blue legs and they need competition...lol

Kenny there is a huge saltwater reef keeping community in Florida, find their forums and join up and buy live rock off of the members instead of getting ripped off by Petco. Or order some online, it's much cheaper than $10 a lb... Thatfishplace.com, liveaquaria.com or Petsolutions.com all have livestock you can order, you'll pay for the shipping but at very least you'll get a garauntee on all their fish.
But once again you're in Florida, there are a crap ton of LFS' down there; the guys that run Reefcleaners.org are down in Florida and you can get 50lbs from them for $80. Join your local reef forum and I bet you'll find some close to where you live.
The crushed coral bottom is going to gather a lot of deitrtus and will be a pain to clean, it's just too big try some .5 - 1.0mm sized oolite pieces from caribsea. Just my opinion as to why maybe you had a diotom bloom on your last bit of sand. Also how many nassarius, cerirths and Asteas did you have in the tank that crashed? Maybe there wasn't enough agitation in it.
Good luck with this tank.

Now that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I'm very into my Oceanic 14g biocube that graduated from my 5.5g marineland pico; which I'm going to mod heavily soon.

Those green star polyps looks really healthy. I always loved mine back when I had a mini reef set-up.

Kinda dropped the ball on this thread[as I have with many things but today's rainy and I need to catch up]...
Solo, I actually did order some awesome pieces off eBay a little while that are *LIVE* now...tons of pineappple sponges, pods, bristle worms, tons of little reef creatures...lol I will be looking for some more live rock soon
so I'll dig around and see what I can find[and cure it in a different tank/tub]...as for the substrate, it's just aragonite sand...it looks...different[bigger] then what I'm used to but definitely not bad size wise...besides hair algae[which I wanted] and chaetomorpha, there is no algae now...
In the 10gal that crashed[with the sugar grain sand that got compacted and blah] there was[total] just Pyro, the firefish[who is still alive and doing quite well!
], 2 blue leg hermit crabs, 1 astrea snail, & 2 nassarius snails...didn't have the dwarf ceriths then...
And I bet your tank is awesome! To be honest, If I were to have the option to get an AIO tank for some other fish/shrimp I want, it'd be a 14gal BioCube...they look like really cool tanks!
Xray, when you do get a reef set up, I'll probably have *LOTS* to send you! Gonna try to get some pom pom xenias soon cuz they seem to be like weeds[like green star polyps and I like that]...
Fade2black, I *LOVE* my GSP too:

It's a very hardy thing...

Ok, to continue, it's a hardy thing that hates my clownfish...lol
For whatever reason he's hosting on/in it and ticking it off[end of the polyps are alittle curled but they do uncurl when he leaves, begging for food from me]:
Despite being annoyed, it's mat/foundation is *HUGE* and ever growing...

Thanks xray!
You know, when I moved the 2 GSP rocks, I fragged a piece of the GSP off...it's a moderately sized piece and it's for you when you get your tank running/stable...
I had to throw away most of the cheato from the 20gL...there was just too much! But I'll also send you some of that[from the clump I still have alive, not the dead stuff...lol] & 10 or so dwarf ceriths...that should be some kind of start for your tank...

It's not the most exciting picture...but here's the reef:
I should be getting some more corals soon...but we'll see how everything plays out...
Oh and the out of place rock on the far left in the front, just ignore...lol
