Wow, she has gottin really big from what I've seen of her in the beginning .

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask how you got African cichlids in the same tank with her?

What a cutie!! how big is she?
How is she with tankmates?

3 are Geophagus daemon & 4 are geophagus tapajos ........ they are about 3-5inches and they keep to themselves for the most part. They know to swim away from her. lol

She is getting very big! Probably about 10 inches ? roughy. She is generally good with tank mates, she used to be incredibly agressive, anything you would add to the tank would be an instant meal. We tried some small guppies/minnows/neons with her first for a good couple months, and she never went for any of them other then the neons. So we tried some small convict chiclids for awhile, and she never went after them either, they eventually bred in her tank, which we then scooped them all out and they are in their own home now. Then we decided to try some geos, so far so good. Although I know it is not a forever thing as they do get pretty big. We already have another tank for them, just allowing them to get some size so they can live peacefully in our other tank.

Oh some Earth eaters. I thought they looked like some female peacocks from the pics. When I set-up my other tank for my fahaka, I was going to add some zerba danios for fast swimmers to try to advoid being eaten..lol.

What is the retail for a fahaka in the states and canada?
Say maybe around 16 inches?

lol yeah, that is the key... when Nala was really small she'd go after anything and everything, including armoured cat fish.. and she used to hate plants too lol, used to take bites out of them. I was definitely surprised when she didn't go after the geo's but they are very fast swimmers, with lots of hiding places, so I think that helps a bit.

Honestly, it really depends on the seller. Roughly around $100-$150 depending on the health and various other factors. I bought Nala when she was about 1-2inches for $30.

I bought mine at about 1" and it cost me $40 CAD. They had it posted for $58, but I talked them down. No idea about a 16 incher...

Yeah I believe ours was on sale, or we got a deal of some sort. I haven't seen many 16 inch fahaka's for sale around here either!

I would like to share with you guys about the pricing here in Singapore, malaysia and thailand between the MBU and the fahaka.

It's kinda weird though...

Check this, A MBU say around 1 to 2 inch would retail about SGD $50++.
3 to 4 inch retail around SGD $80++
5 to 6 inch retail around SGD $120 ~ $138.
18 inch to my knowledge is around SGD $800


NOW,..... a fahaka of just a mere 9 inch would go fro SGD $550!

The fahaka cost more ......

In Canada and the states the MBU cost more than the fahaka.

The exchange rate from xe.com as of 06/01/20011 is
SGD $1.00 = USD $0.7

Bought my near 6" fahaka for $50.00 but had in store credit so only paid $25.00 here in the States.

WOW I cant belive how much she has grown!! Fata$$ is nearly 4 years old now and I think he's done growing now. Total length 13"s and FAT! LOL .. soon I will be uploading some pics as well. He went on a 2300km car ride in a 10 gallon tank on the backseat... and every few hours i blew air into the water with a wendys straw LOL =) He;s still kicking though!! Poor guy!

PS: Do you still have your MBU? I remember the last time we chatted you were getting some structural engineering done for a masssive tank LoL =)
