I got my 50gal with stand, filter (which doesn't seem to work), and glass lids for $80. Most tanks I found were much more expensive than that but I've found that looking on local forums the prices are way cheaper.

Good luck! And keep the 180 if it'll work, Samson will love it and I don't think a 125 will have a footprint that's too much smaller.

I am starting to think about keeping it, I am worried about selling some stuff to make up the cash, I have someone coming over later to help lift it onto the stand. I guess time will tell, I'm not in the super hurry to get samson in it.
hes in a tank as of now, So I can take my time to set it up

I don't know much about construction but close together would be good, right? And you're going across the beams rather than parallel to? I would go for it, keep an eye on it, and reinforce later if you have to!
I sold a 55g with a basic stingray stand, stock fluorescent canopy, gravel, and old fluval filter a while back and got $200 but I got lucky, the guy really wanted something quick and had the cash to spend. There are sooo many listings in the area right now and things seem slow. I watch craigslist and kijiji...just in case ... and I see things sitting and being re-listed that should fly at the prices they're listed for...and I think it gets worse for sellers as the weather gets better cuz everyone wants to be outside...so I would be flexible on the price if you don't want to sit on it...

The article says to reinforce before the tank goes up.If you try and do it after then it won't do anything beneficial. You could always grab some wood and reinforce it before it's filled, I think it's pretty darn easy and wouldn't be expensive.

yeah I think I should be fine, the more I look over the sit, I went down and took a look at the floor, and the joist's are very close and very wide, Also the tank is right up agaist an outside wall, that faces the joining wall of the next unit over, Very soild I will be okay. But I will keep an eye on it for sure

Yeah, the outside walls are load bearing, definitely the safest walls to put a tank against. Your place didn't look like it was new, older buildings are often much stronger than newer ones

Well Its setup and running, I have the eheum running, took a bit to prime it, but man is it quiet , i also have a 400 running with my old media in it, I used water from both tanks, and gravel and sand from my old tank, so I should be good for a cycle, the water temp is very low, I am waiting for it to raise before
I put samson in, its at 77, I am waiting for 79 , so about an hour, cause it was 68, and its been climbing about a degree every half hour or so. Its still a bit cloudy, I did a major cleaning of the inside walls and I added a bit a new sand.

It looks so nice, with all the drift wood and plants I made a couple caves out of Drift so he's gonna have lots to choose from?.

Hey All,

Well he's in his new Home, and from what I can tell he is loving it I shot a short Vid of him, he was exploring the tank, i pulled out the cam and he came and sat in the corner closest to me, and wouldn't move, soon as I put the cam down, he started to explore agian, Geesh some fish eh? LOL!
he is exploring as i sit and type this, he is staring out at me from the cave of drift I made for him LOL! what a nut bar!

I am so super happy for samson, I can see he is loving this new tank, and it warms my heart

I had two tanks going, a 55 GAL ( samsons old tank ) and a 56GAL vic's Oscar tank, I used water, Filter media, Sand and gravel from them to cycle it
