That's amazing, it sounds like he's growing fast.
I have a few questions:
What do you feed him?
How much food (exp. 5 clams)?
Where do you buy his food?
I have an 8-9" s/w puffer that should reach about 18" and just curious about Ziggy's feedings. Mine will eat 2 mussel's, a clam, a shrimp & seaweed before his tummy makes a bulge. I just purchased a couple of crabs for him to try, I haven't give them to him yet. Waiting for water change day, figured it would be easier to get all the shell out if I wait. I purchase his food at the seafood department in the grocery store. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Ziggy's diet has included Shrimp,mussels,crab legs,crayfish,earthworms,snails, and imatation crabmeat.The amount of food fed is varied.I do not try to fill him up with each feeding or even feed him everyday.He may only get 2 mussels at one feeding and 5 shrimp at the next.Most of his diet is bought at the local grocery.

Thanks for answering my questions. Elvis will not touch snails, I never tried crab legs, imatation crabmeat or crayfish. I'll have to get some of each next trip.

i would imagine if you feed him to fill him he would eat your wallet and your bank ..... eventualy

dragging up an old thread i know.... but can you get a picture of the top of your tank? i struggle with mentally picturing stuff, wouldnt mind making a corner tank though....

Andy, I might be able to take a photo of my tank for you.But I need to know two things first. 1) Which tank? 2) What is is you want the photo to illustrate?

Well I moved Ziggy from the 700 gallon to a 350 gallon tank for now. The other fish in this tank are smaller and much more peaceful.Ziggy likes it better and is much more outgoing.He is about 15-16" now.

I find it odd that he's happier in a smaller tank. Why do you think that is?

Maybe it is the fish that are in there with him. He said they are more peaceful, so maybe the puffer doesn't feel like he has to watch out for them all the time. I haven't read all the thread though, so I don't know, just an idea.

He was by himself in a 150 gallon and seemed very happy.As he got closer to outgrowing it I moved him to my 700 gallon tank,In the larger tank the tankmates are large (5 12-15" redfin giant gourmies and 24 large clown loaches)and more aggressive.Ziggy was intimidated even though he was in no danger. Now he is the biggest fish in his new tank and still has enough room to strut his stuff.
