Boy, you really should but I totally understand. Couldn't cut open my dog either (would do so on any of my puffers). Would let a vet do it while I watched though.

Sorry to hear he passed on.
I understand that you wouldn't want to cut him open. Perhaps you could ask a vet? It would be really informative to find out what was causing the lump. It could help us learn a lot about fish pathology.

Yeah, I'd really love to know what that lump was...
