Shrimps and hermit crabs are generally good. I'd say get the cheapest type of clean up crew you can, that way when your puffers eat them you haven't lost out on a lot of money.

So I've got my puffers in my tank! put some dwarf hermits in there beforehand and then the puffers a few days later, so far puffers have tried to go for em but I think My Gsp's are still too small to do any real damage lol. So I've been thinking, is there anything I can do in terms of tank mates?

With puffers the only suitable tankmates are cheap ones which you don't mind gettin eaten lol. It's really down to your individual puffer, no-one can say for sure

Lol yes I have heard that everywhere with puffers x) however I spoke to the owner Of one my LFS about possible tankmates, and he said that a pair of clownfish would be fine, that they're pretty tough and can take care of themselves, especially that my puffers are so small right now and they may not grow any bigger lol. I think he sells false percs, I really would love to own a pair, however I know it might end in bloodshed. Should I give it a try?

I added a pair of percs to my adult GSPs tank & one was missing the next day. Returned the other one. Tried a maroon clown & within 2 days, both of my puffer's tails were chewed down to nubs. Tried a tomato clown. It lasted about 6 months & then just found it dead one day.

Any tanks mates you try will probably end up dead. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you you need to QT any new inhabitants you get for 4-8 weeks before introducing them into your display tank to avoid any health issues.
