Ram cichlids are awesome. Prob my fave non puffer fish. So pretty, easy to care for and great personality. Good choice

Ive heard rams are kinda harder to take care of. Granted if you can keep puffers I think you can keep most fish lol

Yes, rams are a little tricky. They need higher temperatures, very soft water, and low nitrates, and a calm environment around the tank, especially during breeding.
I read that the pH needs to be 5.5 - 6.5, but this is where my really soft tap water becomes favorable.

Yes they do like it a little warmer. Good clean soft water is a must, but other than that very easy to keep happy, they are eager feeders and very bold and full of personality, they always come to the front of the tank to say hello

Changes: I did a water change yesterday. Today the barbs moved out, and we got a school of Cardinal Tetras and Blue Tetras! The Cardinal Tetras were on sale for 80 cents!
I'm only sorry that my caca phone pics just don't give the fish or tank any justice.

Changes: I didn't test pH and KH today. I raised the temp to 82° F, discontinued the DIY CO2, hooked up an air pump to the diffuser for extra aeration, and have started treating the fish for ich.

I was given a new Eheim canister filter, so when the ich treatment is done and the fish are distributed to their final home-tanks, I will swap out the HOB's for the Eheim. Also got a new heater to replace the scary one that came with the tank.
