She was fine on Thursday and we went away for a few days. We got back on Sunday night and she was gone. We're both quite upset as she was by far our favourite fish. None of the others even came close to matching her attitude and personality. We won't be getting another F8 in the near future as we can't imagine another fish being as special as she was. Our best guess was that the heater malfunctioned and killed her (her water was too warm and we had the same type of heater try to kill the irrubescos, we were home to save them though)(the irrubesco one was tossed and this one will be too). She's been so healthy for almost a year, not a single thing wrong with her.
We miss her a lot. The tank is so empty without her. The apartment is empty without her.

sorry to hear guys. i know how you feel about getting another one, i lost my GSP this past christmas eve and havent gotten another one. i didnt feel like replacing it because of how unique my puffer seemed. just wouldnt be right. eventually one day again though. i do still have the tank up and running, but just got a pair of maroon clowns. not the same though...

Thank you everyone. We think we will be getting another one as the wound heals. Right now we're keeping her tank cycled by adding ammonia. We won't do anything until we have the irrubescos in their new tank. Then we'll clean up their tank and potentially put a new one in there or see what happens. We've looked at ones available in the LFSs and none of them stand out so we're not quite ready yet.
