It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

:ROFL2:

She can't say "I don't do fish" anymore.

My boyfriend was the same way but after I got the 120gallon he got me to set up the 55 gallon downstairs, instead of selling it, and start breeding guppies. I can't do feeder fish and since he wanted nothing to do with feeding or cleaning, I sold the whole thing, fish and all. Taking care of 4 tanks was too much. In hindsight, I should have kept the tank for Puff Puff.

Hey All,

Well I picked up the tank, and I have to say, WOW what a HUGE tank! I guess I didnt realize how big 180 Gals was it'll be 1800LBS + when its full, I am not sure my floor will hold the weight? I live in a town home, I was gonna put it on an outside wall, the floor joist's run out from the wall, I need some reassurance that the tank won't fall throu the floor, My wife is freakin, she doesnt want me to fill it all the way?.

I had my neighbour help me lift into the house, he thinks it will be okay, but even he wasn't 100% sure?

It should be fine as long as it's against an outside wall. Do you have access to the floor underneath? You can add support between the floor joists to be on the safe side. I was worried too when I got my 120gallon but nothing's happened with the floor so far and now I moved Puff Puff's tank next to it so he can be closer to me. My boy is now less than 2 feet away from me when I sit on my end of the couch. :D

I do have access to the basement, The joists are 2X12s, and there pretty close together, I was thinking of filling the tank 1/2 way and letting it sit, and keep an eye on the floor underneight, if I see any bowing or such I can stop. Its such a great tank, i spent a good hour cleaning it, and getting it ready, i am waiting till tomorrow to lift it onto the stand, I need 4 ppl to lift it, its all 1/2 inch glass, tank is super heavy, Its a bit older tank, It was re-sealed 3 years ago, and had water in it up to 3 weeks ago. I got 2 300 wat heaters, 2 Emperor 400 Filters, glass tops and light, tons of drift wood, and a brand new still in the box eheim classic 2217 :) all this for 400 bucks :) it was an awesome deal I couldn't pass it up :)

HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yikes: That is quite the deal, you'd be nuts to turn that down. Samson will be in heaven.
I'd fill it to the top with water, I don't think bowing happens immediately but over time. My boyfriend builds houses and he has no concerns whatsoever.

I heard that 90gal and above needed (to be safe) a home inspection to determine if your floor can handle it. I'll see if I can find the information for you.

ETA: Here is is, please read the full thread and all links thoroughly.

IDk guys,

I am thinking about just selling the tank, and buying 120G this thing is so BIG, I didn't realize it till we got it home LOL! I would keep everything else.
I can prob get 200 just for the tank.

IDK I am so confused, and on top of all that, I have my wife freaking cause I burrowed off one of our cards to buy it :P, I had the 56 gal sold, then the person tried to talk me down father then she already did, and when I wouldn't go lower then $200 and I was delivering it *** SHE backed out :P****.

I feel so dehearten right now :(

Hey DS

Thanks, I have a 1/2 piece of Ply wood on the stand ,is that good enough?. I can't spend another dime on this tank, I'm already in the hot seat LOL! If my 56 would sell that would cool the fire a bit LOL! I have to wait till I can enlist some some to lift the tank onto the stand, Its gonna need 4 PPL to do it, Its super heavy.
