Yah lol, he ended up eating about 3/4 of it, then my bf took out the remaining bits because his tummy was getting too fat.
I felt pretty bad for the cray, because it was still moving after being bit in half! Then someone told me they cannot feel anything.. so it made me feel better. lol

Crays have a complete lower brain, so they certainly react to pain just like anything else with a more or less complete nervous system does. I used to slice the brains of feeder crays apart before feeding them when I was in a long snail drought, and had nothing else crunchy to offer. Slice with a razor knife, and SMASH, I could kill it in less than a second. They keep moving autonomically for about 5 minutes, random leg and claw twiches, which was enough for my puffers. It's purely sentimental for me - I had a pet cray as a small child.
Kaleeko is a clever puffer - rather than going for the crays face/claws first, he takes out the tail, which is how they do those last-moment, 1/10 of a second escapes. That's some problem solving ability. He figured out that he could take out both claws and most of the legs, and still miss 90% of the time, and remembered for the future that if you snag the tail, they're sitting ducks. Smart, smart fish.
And a fatty

Thanks Nick, I've never had a cray as a pet lol, but I do feel bad again
Kaleeko has a lot of personality, and you could tell he was getting frustrated!
