That's what I do with bloodworms. My fish are so tiny, and I'd be wasting so much by only using a block once.

I'm having a problem feeding my fish equally. My male is fairly aggressive, and while he's never nipped my female, he does chase her away a lot, and he always eats at least 3/4 of the food. He gets way overfed, while she barely gets enough. Any solutions?

I just put it in the fridge. It should be good for at least 2 days that way & then it gets really stinky!!

My GSP lives in a tank with two giant danios and I feed him frozen brine shrimp and live ghost shrimp every once in a while and man... he eats... a lot. I used to feed him every day but his stomach would get huge, so now I feed him every other day. He begs a lot. He makes me want to cry every time I see him pacing the walls for his dinner.

Don't worry about his stomach getting huge. It should get rounded every time that he feeds. But every other day is probably a good feeding schedule for a juvie GSP.

So are you saying to only feed once a day? I have been giving a small amount morning and night. It's really hard to judge how much food is too much, because the triggers gorge themselves, but the puffer barely eats. I like to have enough food left that he can eat off the bottom if he wants to (which he has done before). If my whole tank is predators, I worry they would eat one another out of hunger. And if someone eats a puffer, won't they be poisoned and die? Would it kill the whole tank? A friend of mine had a very small puffer get caught in something mechanical, and when he died so did most of her other fish.

Well, you have to play it by ear when first getting to know your fish. I have a burrfish that can and should eat twice a day, but often won't eat for a few days.

You're going to have a lot more worries than just feeding if you don't figure out your stocking though

As far as your friend's fish dying, it was more likely the dead body triggering an ammonia spike that killed the other fish... it could have been the toxin but to be honest, that doesn't happen very often.

O.O I hope Asagi my F8 doesn't explode! He is... grossly overweight after this last feeding.

I've got a problem where my puffs don't eat the same. Asagi is a quick fat pig that eats everything. Ohan is a slow, somewhat picky eater.

I don't quite know what to do about it, spare netting one while the other eats. :-\

Train them to eat at opposite ends of the tank, that's what I've done in the past.

Do you mean because they are all predators? Or just a bad combination together? They have been together for some time, just not in my house.

No, the friend's story was not due to an ammonia spike. It killed the other fish and shrimp in seconds.

I've started feeding my F8s every other day. They seem to need a day to digest.

ok this thread just changed everything i thought i new about puffers. everytime i research the diet of puffers it says to feed them 2-3 times a day. i feed mine freeze dried bloodworms twice a day and sometimes i give them either brine shrimp bloodworms krill or crab on the shell and snails. i only feed twice a day so am i still technically overfeeding them?

How much are you feeding them every time. I feed my 4 <2'' puffers half a cube everyday once a day

since its freeze dried i give them as much as they can eat within three minutes

1x/day to a rounded belly is fine but be sure to skip 1 day/week.
