It is a very sad thing to see my own puffer die like that and I hope this will teach people not to net their puffers out of the water. Use a container to remove it from the tank with the water as well.

I don't know where he gets out. he can't use the filter, and every open space around it has tape covering it. the only way he could get out is if he leaped out when I opened the lid and somehow I didn't notice. but I'm taking the more logical route... he's obviously a magical crab!

My crabs are red crabs and they usually use plants to get to the top and make a jump for it, or cleverly hang on and stretch a leg out far enough to get up. I have also witnessed them climb right up the heater.

I've made sure none of the plants even reach the top, then in desperation I took packing tape and sealed the whole tank... poof. no crab.
