I did take some of the tank but there was too much light in the room - will get some when it is dark

OK, complete change of plan, or should I say tank dimensions as we've get the keys for a new house now and a 10ft tank will just not go.

I do however have the opportunity to take out a large wall cupboard and replace it with a similarly volumed tank - 7(l) x 3(w) x 4(h).

This tank will therefore seem built into the wall from the study (flush with walls to study and hallways)

Now starting the diagrams!

That sounds good, when is it likely to happen do you think?

We are moving in on Friday so as soon as I'm allowed, it will begin - I would think a couple of weeks.

I always found with my old Mbu the trick is keeping the water very well oxygenated - extremely important! Make sure you have plenty of surface movement to exchange atmospheric gases. Alfie reached 20 inches in 5 years and needed massive water changes weekly to keep up with his huge appetite and keep those Nitrates down. I used home made trickle filters for the tank made out of water butts.... did not look attractive but did the job.

Plus the older they get the more sedate they get, they turn into lazy couch potatoes and don't need feeding everyday. If you find your Mbu is sitting on the tank floor most of his life it probably because he is digesting food!

I can go along with that too. They need less food in comparison to their size the older they get. And I definately agre with Mbu's ROCK!!!
