I have done my water changes, about 3 since the start of this thread. My water is crystal clear and i got more plants my fahaka enjoys which are plants with a lot of leaves on the stems, (ex. Not amazon swords). I bought some high output lights *T5 HO that are really cool looking. The fish love em too they are all over the place. I have also purchased prime by Seachem and will be doing WCs at a higher frequency to avoid any phosphate and nitrate build ups like this one that caused a crazy algae bloom and saving money by doing so too!!!. The lights are brand new and should provide that good light wave length thst supports plant growth but not so much algea making it more manigable (not erradicated) with co2 booster to help plants compete for the nutrients... hope that made sense i really do appreciate the input i have learned A LOT. Thanks, great discussion.

Is that sand substrate? How deep is it?

It looks like fine gravel to me. I use the same
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Its a mix subtrate. All is 2 inches deep. Butmostly gravel.the sand is concentrated in the back right corner. I housed a dragon goby and he burrowed in the sand under a cave and thats how he ate. I re homed him when in got the fahaka and now the plants are planted there if you could see. Idk how grainy the picture is once you click on it on your end.

With sand deeper than 1", you MUST do a thorough stirring/cleaning weekly. This means under ALL decor, too.
