I believe they make something for that, however I have absolutely no clue what it's called. So, I'd suggest using a smaller pipe and see if you can maybe adjust the angle of the flow or something to see if anything helps. There's got to be something you can do, or else no one would have these tanks lol. Maybe bringing the pipe up so it's BARELY over the water would help too, cause then you wouldn't hear the bubbles.

Oh ok I think your sump is a little more complex than mine PP. mine just has 2 chambers, the main one where the drain first takes the water, and in that chamber is my skimmer. Then it just leads to a smaller chamber where it goes through some sponge and then down to the return pump and back up to the tank

Have you managed to get your sump to be any quieter?

Yes it's somewhat quieter, but still having a hard time sleeping. Also, since I put my live rock in the params went all out of whack. No ammonia, but a lot of nitrates and nitrites. What should I do? Ive been putting prime in the water, I don't have any fish or anything in there so should I just wait it out? Or should I do wc?

Just wait & let it cycle through.

So long as there isn't any fish you're fine. I know it'd be a complete pain in the rear end now, but could you move it to any other part of the house so you could sleep?

After several days of experimenting, I believe I have it finally set up in a way quiet enough for me to sleep! Haha we'll see tonight however. I'm anxious to get my puffers in already! But the water params arent ready :/ is there anything I should be doing for the lr and ls? Someone told me to feed it, but I don't know what that means exactly lol. And nothing really looks alive on it :/

I don't think you HAVE to feed liverock, or livesand. How much liverock VS dry rock do you have in there? And congrats on getting it quieter! =]

You know, when feeding was recommended, I just thought about it. I do believe that person meant feed it to make sure your aquarium actually cycles. What you want to do is add a bit of food every few days and monitor your test result about every three days, too. You can toss in some flake food for this. It's just to make sure your aquarium can handle and convert ammonia properly and everything.

You probably won't be able to add your livestock at all for at least 4-6 weeks because you have to be sure it can handle the ammonia and that your tank is stable.

Oh I see what you mean. Well I added a bottle of biospira last night and tested it again tonight and the tank seems to have cycled! I know I should still wait and make sure it stabilizes, but what would you guys recommend in terms of a clean-up crew?

Just feed it for a couple of days and make sure it handles ammonia, then you can add your puffers.

Clean up crew with puffers? LOL you're funny.

You may be able to have a clean up crew for a week, but then your puffers will realize they're tasty snacks.

You will have to do most of the clean up yourself, and you most likely won't ever be able to add corals either. Although some people have luck with leather corals.

Lol I know they won't last long but Id still want them so at least my puffers will be able to hunt for some live food! Any recommendations?
