=( nope. When the nitrites were high, I did do about a 10% water change, but it was still only about at 12-13 gallons. Then after I added all the decor, I added the newly treated water. I'll work on that on Friday....Friday and Saturday are the only two days I would be home to do it. /sigh

It's better to know it can handle the bioload of the F8 for sure. You have to keep feeding the bacteria ammonia anyway until he or she arrives, so it won't die off.

and when you get your GSP you will be so happy you spent days/weeks learning about them and how to take care of them and your GSP will also be thankful

Yup, seven got it. That was not enough ammonia oxidized to nitrate to support a fish. And if no ammonia has been added regularly since the beginning, the bacteria may be AWOL.

Well so far all the tests came back good so I put PZ in the 20 until I can get his tank clean and stable. Put in a call for an f8 but its been years since they have seen something close to an inch in size =/ so I probably won't get my teeny tiny baby but they are going to try to get me the smallest one possible. Few more weeks though! Id say 3 at the most (hopefully!). At least I will be good and prepared fir when she finally comes in.

The LFS differences are always interesting. Where I am, they can't seem to get any F8s BIGGER than an inch. My two were itty-bitty babies when I got them, about 3/4" each.

I actually prefer getting small young fish Then I have more hope that they have not been stunted.

+1 i got my GSP's at about an inch. and my ghost knife at 3 inches!! the puffs are now about 2 inches and the BGK is 6. and the only other thing i can think of that u might have an issue with (i didnt look @ your picture well enough) is if your thermometer is glass. I've heard on here to not use them as the puffers try to bite it. id hate to see you go through all these struggles to have something like that put it to an end....

cant wait to see pics.

I ordered a digital thermometer and a new heater! =D I can hardly read the one that is in there and the tetra heater that came with the tank was absolutely crap! So I ordered a Hydor theo 100w heater for $18 on Amazon! =D New one works great!
Also saw the horror stories and some pics of broken thermometers. I didn't want to even think about taking the chance!

I have one more important point to bring up on why you would want to get a small baby puffer:
Beholding the cuteness!
lol
