Yes, you can keep two of them. Trust me Dwarf Puffers are AWESOME!!! They were the first Puffers I got. After having them I was HOOKED on Puffers. They are very small but don't let their size fool you. They have big attitudes! I understand how hard it is to give up Puffers. To me it seems like loosing a Puffer is such much more hard then loosing any other kind of fish (just my opinion) even tho loosing ANY fish sucks. I guess it's just their cute faces and how they get so attached to their owners. The recommended space for DPs is 1 per each 5 gallons. You will not be let down at all. Even if you can't for some reason find some, I can get them at ANY time and would be more then happy to help you get some. I'm sure others would do the same here too. This is the best forum site for Puffers without a doubt. It's a good thing you're here! By the way don't let those morons over at MFK discourage you from this hobby. Like I've said you found the right site for Puffers now

If you really love your cute Puffers then you will want them to thrive in their right conditions. You say you need these cute little fellas to keep you going and that's totally understandable. That's how a lot of people have got into a hobby like this. But what happens when you wake up one day and they are dead? Especially knowing that this whole situation could have been avoided. Think about it, sometimes it's best to let go. Your Puffers will thank you in the long run. They are just simply not a fish for a tank that size. It's like keeping you and 2 other people in a 10x10 cell for your whole life.. All I am saying is just PLEASE think about it if you really want what's best for them like you say you do.

No. You cannot even keep one, not in a 10gal. You don't want their deaths on your hands. You will regret it for a very long time and it will make you very sad.

Even one is going to quickly outgrow that tank. With only one, there is a much better chance of survival. Also with 2, the more aggressive one will constantly harass & possibly kill the other one.

If it helps you at all, singletons are much more personable to their owners than multiple puffers.

The fact that you are communicating any of this to a forum that specializes in your fish means you care. You were just misinformed, as all are at Walmart.

You probably should cut back on feeding them anyway. 1x/day is enough. What are you feeding them?

not feeding them 1 day a week isnt a bad thing. I usually dont feed my puffer at all on sunday's, he gets pissed and hides behind a rock when ever I walk in. But in the wild they may not be able to eat everyday so your doing fine

What I do when I forget things is to make a list. If it's a problem then make a little chart and you can check off each day that you feed. That way when you see it you'll know if you've fed or not

Most people only feed puffers once per day and fast them at least once per week (as the fish becomes an adult you don't need to feed as often).

Yeah no way can you even keep one in that tank. I know it sounds harsh but by having any amount of those fish in that tank is the same as putting them on death row. They are just waiting to die. There is A LOT of very smart people when it comes to Puffers on here. Take their advice, they didn't learn all of this overnight. Most of the advice you've gotten is from others experiences. There is just no possible way to do it in that tank. If you can't find a LFS to take them maybe someone will want to pay for shipping and you can mail them. If I had my 75 gallon ready to setup I would take 2 of them off of you. I can't set it up until Spring tho

yeah if you werent like 8 hours away from me i would be willing to help. either by taking you to a pet store or taking the GSP off your hands and drop off a nice DP or something along those lines. you cant beat yourself up over information that you were given poorly at walmart. you didnt know any better. but if you are dependent on these fish basically to not hurt yourself, you need to keep their best care in mind because if like if you said healthy puffer=healthy you your only driving your own health downhill because i know you wont feel very good if they wind up dying.

I am trying to get approval to fill the 46g tank... Would that work until summer?

What happens in the summer? Will you be able to afford and take care of a 90+gal brackish tank?

I have stable health, stable living accommodations, years of experience, and there's still no way that I could take that on. Where are you going to age 50gal of water per week? Can you afford all the salt and extra time the tank will require? Where will you be living from then on?

One of them would LOVE to have that 46gal tank all to it's own. It would be less work and less money. Plus, singletons are much more interactive and friendly. Trust me, if you can do that that one puffer will do so much better and live a longer life on it's own.
