That's a super cool setup. Makes me wish I could afford to customize my own. Maintenance is gonna be a breeze in a system like that!

I am hoping so.
In my old tank I had a single pump multi tank set up. Looking at the overall picture it was really a tank with a big beautiful sump. This one is going to be similar but 3 levels instead of 2.
I would have liked a deep sand bed, but the tanks are so long and shallow they won't allow for it.

I have played a lot with plenums(which I consider safe), but I have a strong mistrust of DSB. Both are quite slow to develop full function IME. My current set-up, like yours but not Living Room located, has too shallow tanks for such applications. I could do a plenum in the bottom tier, but tend to reverse light cycle veggie (or macroalgae if SW) refugia.

Finally got a little work done on the tank today.
I plumbed the top tank into the bottom. I got a little ticked because I made a spray bar and the suction cups aren't holding.
I also cut 2" ABS piping into 6" and 12" lengths for the underlay. Still have a lot more plumbing to do and then the leak test.
Ohhhh and level it
I am a fraction of an inch off.

Finally a small update.
Got the water in the tanks. The top tank is only at SG 1.010 so I'll have to bring that up and I also added some Marco Rock.
The water got hazy because I didn't rinse the rock first and because those things hold HUGE amounts of O2.
I haven't done any scaping as of yet, I just ploped the rocks in there as they were handed to me. Surprisingly it turned out really nice
Next will be the second tank

Finally installed the lights. I'm not 100% happy with them but for now they do the job.
Next mission: Clean up the bottom tank a bit and install the sump + RO/DI unit....

yes and no. I drilled them in place. Each tank was to get 2 sets of lights. I only bought one playing it safe just in case I didn't like them.
Between the purchase of these and having available time to set them up. I did find another set I like much more, but that is going to cost $$$.
So here is the dilemma: Save up and get the good lights, or get 3 more sets of the el-cheapo to get the tanks up and running... Then save up again and get the good lights...

unless your in a rush for some reason, save and do it right the first time.
