Yay my LFS is finally getting Dwarf Puffers on Thursday so hopefully i can go scoop them up before anyone else ..Oh ya and my tank levels are looking good :D i never got any biospira but i have been feeding the tank it took a while for the levels to get where they need to be but they have been stable for 4 or 5 days now ... everything is looking good and we are all happy we wont have to look at an empty tank anymorel. P.S. i never got a call back about the free 125 gallon tank :( oh well i guess its better off with a school anyway

Yay about the levels! :)

No yay about the no call on the 125g. :( You're right, though - the students will learn a lot, and probably really enjoy it. Maybe you could volunteer to help them set it up.

:D :D :D yay i got my DPs today ... 6 of them :D they are still acclimating to their new tank. out of all of them only 1 worries me he/she has been sitting on the bottom of the bag then occasionally will swim erratic and has its tail curled to one side i know it could be the stress of moving or maybe them fighting (although i haven't seen any fights yet) but i was wondering what you guys think and what i should do :D thanks. P.S. the one that worries me is quarantined by himself just in case :(

well....the one quarantined by himself died and because i got him straight from my local fish stores dealer still in the bag (i went to the store when they opened and just got their fish in) there is no guarantee on them but i did get 30% off all of them because of it. All of the others are looking great so its not a total loss.

Just for future reference, curled tails are not signs of disease, though you were right about the inactivity and erratic behavior, of course. :( DPs curl their tails to steer, and often when they sleep. Sorry about the little guy. And good call on seperating him from the others.

They're so thin! I bet they need deworming, and of course lots of food. :) I'm sure you can fatten them up. Their eyes are so big! How cute!

should i feed them today? from what i have read everyone seems to skip feeding the first day . i got some frozen blood worms and some live black worms so if i need to feed them i can. what do you think?

Well, I think that's because a stressed fish might not eat, and that would just result in waste (that's just my theory), but when I got DPs, they took about .5 seconds to notice the snails that were living there at the time, and about .7 seconds to start snacking. I guess, offer them a bit, and if they want it, give them some more. Just don't give in to the compulsion to overfeed those cute little faces!

well i couldn't find the cone feeder anywhere but i still tried to feed them i just poked some holes in a new water bottle and that seemed to work ok.. anyway the one i thought looked thin was the first to grab a worm and tare it to shreds so that made me happy i got a small clip of it too..i didn't see any of the other eat but i wasn't watching the entire time and i don't see any worms so maybe they did ...
