Looks like a Protein Skimmer is a MUST!

Since skimmers only work effectively at SG > 1.020, looks like it's a "no-go" on the Brackish tanks. :(

Here's a link and summary for those interested:

http://glassbox-design.com/2008/achieve ... mentation/

"Without digging deeply into the scientific area of this, the goal of carbon based bacterioplankton systems such as Vodka, Prodibio, Ultralith and Zeovit is to grow bacteria in order to consumer phosphates and nitrates, which are then exported via a protein skimmer. As the bacteria are removed by the skimmer, so are the nutrient that it consumed. This can be achieved with simple carbon dosing such as sugar, or more complex means such as Zeovit, involving reactors, mutiple dosings and color manipulating additives. (Because the bacteria are exported via skimming, a well functioning skimmer is a must!) The goal of these methods is to create a low nutrient environment, particularly liked by Acroporids."

Happy swimming

Doe anyone mix fish food with vit c. I seen a guy online take all types of frozen seafoods typical ones used feeding fish and reefs. He mixed all the seafood and added vit c and all the other liquid additives to the food. Then after mixing well he froze it into flat ziplock bags much like how you'd buy it at the store. Could I do this to dose the tank and feed. It's it ok ? I'll try to find the video and post it here later.

You are welcome to add VC to your fish's foods, but that doesn't count as dosing. There is already BVC added in good liquid vitamins, like Selcon & Vita-Chem.

Just ordered some and will start doseing the beginning of next week. Ill start with 1/8 tsp once a day then after 4 days go to 1/4 tsp once a day in a 33gal tank. I will be takeing notes on how it works and post updates. Thnx PP, I used the code you posted and it still works. Hopefully this will elliminate my phosphates and nitrates so my diatom bloom will go away faster. If my doseing ammounts arent correct please correct me b4 I start the doseing.

If you can, do 2x/day for better results. How big is the tank? Do you have a skimmer?

Skimmer doesn't affect VC at all. I dump it under the skimmer cup for HOB skimmers.
