Since the subject line is teeth I will ask here. Can a DP's teeth overgrow? Another site I go to has an article that states a DP's teeth do not overgrow. I know the DP profile here states a DP's teeth can overgrow. Help me clear this up and get the correct facts out. Thanks!

Can a DP's teeth overgrow??

I don't think it happens very often, because they are such avid little hunters that they are constantly finding every snail or shrimp or anything they can in your tank to eat, plus they just don't seem to grow as fast as most other puffers.

But it can happen, so its still a good idea to feed a proper diet and watch them. Better to prevent and be ready for it than have the puffer die and find out then.

Ok I have to ask - anything think I am crazy on the anchovie paste idea? It always seems to work for me...can't remember if I found this in a book once or just tried it - its been a long time...anyone else do this?

As in spread it on a rock so the puffer eats and trims it's teeth as well? I have read on other forums and here that people do it and it works.

I have been meaning to do this, but I am too lazy. One day I will and hopefully I will have less problems.

A blender and store bought non-toxic gelatin powder.

eewww... don't they just sell some in tubes or something, I don't want to have to do it myself! The smell has to be terrible, lol. How long do you think it lasts? Could you freeze some and leave some in the fridge?

If I wasn't lazy, that is how I would so it. I would mix other stuff in there too, likw squid and mussels and clam flesh for variety. I just thought of this... You could mix them separately and see what your fish likes best by putting them on different rocks and seeing which needs to be replaced first.
