the name is fine.. it is cute.
The problem with plecos .. is they are poop machines. The bigger they get the more poop the make. They are pretty keep the tank clean but are messy fish!

she will die early but live at least a few years. She will get big quickly but you are lucky they do not take a lot of tank space. Mostly resting, eating an pooping
That is the way it is with Plecos

I just bought a 10g for my DPs off CL and the guy told me they had a pleco in there that lived for 7 or 9 years. I explained to him about stunting but he had no clue.
Anyways, Hermi just needs to keep up on her water changes and gravel vacs and I think things will be fine for her and her fish. The fish aren't in an ideal tank but I think they will fine enough and giver he plenty of pleasure caring for them. And that is what is most important.
On down the road maybe she can find a 20 or 29g gallon tank for her pets. Hermi, keep in mind that a 20g tank only weighs as much as a man and a 29g tank only weighs as much as a large man so I don't think it will be too much weight on your home if you are able to pick on up later.
Good luck with your fish and never hesitate to ask for any help or advice.

Plecos are a little different than most free swimming fish. The other fish will not las as long as a Pleco, but a Pleco lasts a LONG time. The bigger the tank the longer it lasts, as with most fish.
You've already read about stunting and the other stuff so I won't go into it.
Now that Monster is back .. do feeding every morning and water changes ever night. gravel vac Wed and Sun, and clean the filter every Sunday as usual, but not in tap water. Use a bucket of old tank water for cleaning the filter.
