A friend and I did a tour of some distant aquarium stores (again). I really wanted to finally get some fish for my 90 that's been almost empty since Douggie passed away. I desperately wanted another puffer, considering a sharpnose, but decided that it was a bad idea since they are really not very reef-safe. I looked at hundreds of fish but just couldn't decide, nothing was as cool as puffers. At our second to last stop, they had a tank full of baby Douggies :-( I'm a firm believer in talking with your dollars and I could just not in good conscience buy a fish that has such a horrendously low rate of survival in captivity but I wanted one bad, I miss Douggie so friggin much :-( I was smart, though, I walked away and didn't buy ANYTHING there. Then at my next stop, I found a gorgeous pair of clowns that were already hosting a nice anemone. I managed to work out a fair cash deal and am now the proud owner of some livestock that would be totally incompatible with a fugu, so as to remove all temptation...

Yesterday was awful.

-Found out that my last chance at a summer job didn't work out. Will have to live at home, meaning that will have to live with insane, violent, and abusive sister.
-Baby bird I was taking care of till I could get it to rehab aspirated and died.
-Found out that sister had succeeded in finally using up, stealing, and/or destroying all my beautiful candles, candleholders, incense, and incense holders. Was a slow, two-year process. Have put foot down and demanded lock on door.

Today was better. Went to fair trade craft show with best high school friend, and then made plans for him to help me move out on Wednesday and come for dinner and a movie at my house.

ETA: Oh, and got other friend to take me to Lowe's on Monday to pick up doorknob, since parents won't get me one before I move back.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

And dont have the money to send it to someone else lol.

It's mothers day today so I got my mom some chocolate and some really nice expensive conditioner for her hair. Found out that there was a family dinner tonight and she asked what I was bringing to dinner. I said nothing and she then proceeded to chew me out, told me I should feel guilty for not bringing food and that I shouldn't go to dinner. So I am now sitting alone in my apartment and very hungry  Not only did I get yelled at, I had to miss the dinner because I wasn't bringing food to the dinner I had just found out about. My grandma will call tomorrow to chew me out too because you can guarantee that my mom went there with a ton of lies about what a horrible and inconsiderate daughter and person I am. PS: you can bet your life that my mom didn't bring any food either.

Thanks God for this thread. I need to vent.

The Java Moss that I've been growing for 6 months all went down the drain, literatally. I was doing a water change and I let my mom hold the siphon and she sucked it all up. I put it back on the rock but already some is dying. :( Oh well, its Mother's Day. But now the tank looks like crap and she also cut a $15 shrimp in half by sucking its head off while its body was deep in a cave. :(

Happy Mother's Day

Do not feel bad, I have a mother like that..

I think to some degree..it has to have something to do with attention/pity seeking..something I will not give my mom is pity..

As a child I like to read and therefore sat in my room and read all day..while my mom slept..but she would still go tell others how bad I was....and she would smile as others would hug her..

Do not be offended, I am just saying..I know what it is like..but look on the bright side it could be worse!

Guess what me and my mom did today....

Apparently her life insurance kicked in..and she wanted me to look at every single trinket she owned so I would know who to give it to when she died..and it took hours because everything had some dramatic story that did not make sense (she was lying)..

Then she gave me old conditioner bottles with an inch of conditioner left in them..

Oh, she bought me a necklace..but decided she liked it..so she kept it..and instead gave me her cake cover.

I know it sucks..but try to enjoy the chocolate anyway..

Well found out today that one of my 2 Auriglobus silus is actually a Auriglobus modestus

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=22639

This means that another tank must be set up to keep them separate. I think my wife is getting little upset with all of this cuz I just did a 40gal Long set up 2 days ago viewtopic.php?f=7&t=22598&start=0 and another tank would be #6.

Its late and I cant sleep, trying to figure out a solution.

The only option that I have is to buy a double metal stand, to fit one tank on top of other.

This hobby is costing me $$

and then I got friends that come over with a big :?: Why would I keep one fish in a 30gal tank? a fish that doesn't grow over 3"

Puffer fish is THE only reason I'm in aquarium hobby
