I got him some mussels and prawns today, but he only sniffed them. I waved them in the filter current too but he just wasnt interested yet. Then chucked in a live shrimp and it was gone in an instant
O well, keep tryin...
I did get him some guppies today though from pets@home, which are now in quarantine. They looked disease/parasite free but you can never be too sure.

Beautiful specimen & very nice picture.
Try starving him/her for 3-4 days before adding a prawn tied to a piece of string.
I've usually done this a few minutes before lights out and then made myself scarce..
Worked like a charm for me.

I dont know if this is bad or not, but when the light first comes on in the morning, he looks like he's yawning. He bares his (huge) teeth for no apparrent reason and opens his mouth very wide. Is this a problem?

Mine tend to do that periodically too. Don't think its anything to worry about.

Finally got him to take mussel and prawns now, and he wolfs them down every couple of days which is good!
I am running DIY CO2 for the plants, but the pH still remains at 8, which I believe is too high? He hasnt shown any discomfort, so I was wondering if it was worth the expense of getting a chemical pH reducer or not?

Chemical pH adjusters cause more problems than they solve. Mine are at 7.8 and doing fine.
