Maybe one of those cichlid stones to act as a cave?
Ive always wanted to try live plants so this might be a good time to try.

I love a good excuse to show off a pic 
Here is my Lurker tank. Full to the brim with open feeding areas. Definitely you want lots of cover,plants, fake plants, cave...whatever you like. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
And here it is redone with a tree, mine didn't ever use that cave in the first pic, but he does like his new tree.
