Thank goodness I took chemistry and biology! Mine are always 5ppm, with zero nitrites and ammonia. He doesn't have live plants in his tank, apart from 4, soon to be 6 as they're dividing again, marimo balls.

I am inordinately fond of the marimo balls, they're cute looking, do a decent job of keeping the other algae down, and reproduce like crazy. It's quite exciting, rushing down each morning to see if they've finally 'birthed'.

He's back to laying on the bottom of the tank. Ammonia at 0. Everything else 0. Appears to have a red worm poking out of his gills as he breathes. Could be a blood worm stuck to him. Back to not eating.

Nitrate reading at zero? Is that before or after a water change? I question whether or not this tank has a functioning biofilter, or whether or not your test kit is valid.

What test kit are you using and how old is it?.

Nitrite spike. I must have made a mistake when testing. Tested again shortly after and did a major water change. He looks better. Even tried to get at the crab
