I have noticed last night after i fed my little guy that even though he still had a few pieces of squid and a half eaten cocktail shrimp he started to swim around and blow water at the sand looking for food. Do you think he just felt really good and wanted to hunt or do you think he was tired of eating shrim, squid and krill. I'm going to go to the pet store today on my way home from work and pick him up some freshwater snails and more ghost shrimp. I just hope he isn't getting tired of prepared food. But I thought that if he was looking for live food he would decide to crunch on some of the hermit crabs that I have in the tank with him. I've just never seen him go around blowing water at the sand. Very cute he really gets into it has his eyes looking around all over the sand. :)

Hello, My little puffer is still doing great. Eating like a pig every day. I only have one question, I think he is finally over his ick no new spots. But it looks like there are a few white almost transparent spots on just his fins that have been there since I purchased him about 3 months ago. They don't decrease or increase in number and don't change in size. I'm wondering if I should be worried or is this a normal thing that puffers get on their fins. My mom had some figure 8 puffers a long time ago and she said that her puffers had these spots and they looked like the same thing, but never bothered the fish. I just want to make sure so I can treat him if needed. thanks.

Probably just small breaks in the fin, my puffers got a few on his fins, they never move or change size so i'm not too worried, I'd still keep an eye on them though.

 :D Well my little dog-face puff aka Trooper, has made a full recovery from the powehead intake disaster. I swear he knows when I'm due to get home from work, now he is always out at the front of the tank looking in the direction that I come into the house. He still has a small lighter color almost white stripe on his stomach but that is the last of the area where the wound healed up. I have been feeding him FW rams-horn snails which he loves to crunch, I also put some more live rock that was broken up into smaller pieces and he went to town on them he would look all over the rocks then pick a spot and bite it, I assume he was filing his teeth down. But after I have fed him about 10 snails in the past 3 days I can tell a difference in his teeth size. He has grown since I got him and is fat and happy. It is so hard not to feed him when he begs, when I shake the krill can he comes running, and makes a happy face and dances, if fish could dance.
