Powerheads are good for making more current or pointing towards the waters surface for more aeration. You do not need one.

that is SUCH a good idea, im totally going to do that!! Perfect for cleaning up little poops throughout the week during non water change days

yea i had one laying around the house, i just rinsed it out and it works perfect!
