I do not think you are a bad person...especially considering how much you have worried over Squirt...plus the store sounds decent..even if they have weird feeding practices..they should have said something to you...but oh well...

You can but they are very difficult to keep clean and happy.

I thinks its normal for a puff to be like that. Maybe ya just need more a variety of food. I feed clams, mysis shrimp, full sized regular shrimp, bloodworms, krill, lots of snails, and some variety pack I got with brine shrimp, Squid, and some other stuff. But yea all that stuff is frozen at from the LFS. I try to feed em something different everyday. Soon youll find out what Squirts favorite food is. All puffs eat wild, live food. And if they end up in our aquariums they all end up getting used to you and your feeding regime. Sounds to me his inactivity has something to do with the tank. What are your water parameters recently???

And I'm pretty sure he's hungry lilgreenpuffer. He's constantly picking at things...hoping it is food(i guess) like the heater, thermometer, plants, etc...
When you first establish a tank, it's important to check water parameters frequently, even if you don't think it's the problem - or even if there is no problem. But when there is a problem, it's crucial to check them. Poor water quality can cause a lack of appetite, among other things.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

That was very nice of the store to make that trade for you!

Dwarf puffers can really be very picky. If you have a local, convenient source of live black worms its not a big deal, but they can be hard to find and are really hard to breed yourself. That's why I like to tell people to get their tanks stocked with red cherry shrimp, at least the puffers will have something to eat if they won't take frozen.

Well Lil Green Puffer I have already established the problem as I posted previously. He will only eat live...that's the only problem not water changes. As soon as I place in live tubifex worms he gorges until I stop giving him food. But is still picky enough to refuse frozen food.

Yes I agree!! I'm even more surprised that they gave me some free tubifex worms to feed the little guy. This is why...if anyone here lives in California....I highly recommend this place! Especially for service and care quality. They are so kind that for their bettas...they give each individual betta a 2.5 gallon tank!! I was astonished!! Way better then Walmart's, Petco's, and Petsmart's tiny deli cups. They were all healthy and happy too.

I agree this store is the bomb!! Has excellent service, quality, and a very large variety of live foods!
Live foods: Snails: 5 cents, tubifex worms: 1 oz- $1, juvenile and adult brine shrimp: 1 oz- about $2-$2.50, nightcrawlers and red wrigglers: *30-50 worms* $2-4, and crickets *not sure on price* etc....

They were going to sell walterworm cultures....but I decided I didn't want to sell my walterworm cultures to them....too much hassle LOL. But anyways....yes they treat their pets with incredible respect!! Especially bettas...I will try to get pictures next time i go.

The only bad thing is that they don't have lots of room in their store...it has about 40 aquariums *freshwater/marine* and 20 terrariums. It's size is only 4 rooms...and 3 are off limits...LOL. But despite this...it has great variety! From bettas to snakes...turtles to dragonfish gobies...oscars to leopard geckos....DPs, GSPs, and Fahka puffers to Bearded Dragons...You probably get the point!

And trust me I'm not advertising for them!! They didn't pay me to do this! I'm just showing to everyone that there is at least one pet store out there that DOES care for their pets correctly and kindly. That includes treating other human beings! :D

Well they don't exactly have their own website but here is a site where customers review the store. Here it is:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/seascapes-mountain-view
It got 4/5 on the customer review! :D

Here is a video of my Dwarf Puffer *Squirt* eating his live tubifex worms. Sorta...he was eating but whenever I tried to tape him eating it...he stops. Well if you notice in this vid...his stomach is far larger then my last vid I posted here. Just proof that he is eating.

http://s750.photobucket.com/albums/xx14 ... I_3067.mp4

Here is a video of my Tubifex worms, 3 MTS snails, and guppies. My Tubifex worms are what I feed to my DP. Surprisingly my Tubifex worms are doing good and are healthy. I gave them a large-sized flake yesterday and they finished it all...as you can see in the vid. The Snails...sadly i think they are dead...don't know why though. The guppies are just some of the guppies that I raised from fry. They always clamor to the front of the tank in order to receive food. *even if i'm not feeding*
I rinse the tubifex worms 5x a day to ensure clean health.

Cool vid I like how hes like Thank U Dad at like 20sec in the first vid.

In the second vid those worms look alot like the live blackworms I get. If they are keep them in the fridge and theyll last twice as long bc they go dormant. For about 2 weeks and 1 week when left out in the open like like that. Same thing for Live brine shrimp too. Also keeps the water from gettin real stinky too.
