I agree with overkill. I have 2x250w on 46g:)

The lights I have are actually 2 10 watt 50/50 Coralife bulbs, I tried the 20watt ones and it didn't work well in my tank hood, they kinda blew and broke O.o Anyways I can only afford these ones to use. I have them on 12hrs on and 12hrs off and everything in the tank so far is doing great, my lonely zoa is still alive and I found out I have a snake polyp which is aslo doing great. The 3 feather dusters are good to. There are also a few teeny tiny snails in there And my five blue legged hermits are really doing good, some of them have multed already. What kind of corals besides zoas (because I'm already gonna get some of those) can I have in there with my lighting? The 2 LFS I go to say the lighting I have is fine. Just lookin for suggestions

Oh and my pistol shrimp is also doing great, I saw him poke out of one of his tunnels the other day, so cute.

The LFS probably will tell you acropora is okay with your lights LOL

These are the best choices for the light you have:
Sinularia
Palythoa
Capnella
Sarcophyton
Cladiella
Lobophytum
Sphaerella
Actinodiscus

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head, there are so many common names so those listed are the sci name. LPS/SPS will NOT work under those lights.

someone here might be able to tell ya what ya need but Im pretty sure DIY from LOwes or Home depot can be real cheap and farely easy. You could buy the ballast pre wired then just add the halide bulbs...

a halide on a 10g tank? Madness! lol you would be losing half the water every day from evap....

I was just saying hypothetically you can build that and T5 easy. And if they chose halide it not gonna be the most poweful one. one of the least powerful would be fine (Ones at home depot) very cheap. Nano tanks are pretty expensive so that why id always say to go bigger for dillution and to save ya an upgrade when you see how limiting the fish can be.

What homedepot halides are there that you can get a appropriate spectrum bulb (10,000K+)? I know there are some less than 100watts for reefs, but they tend to be even more $ than typical 150/175/250 halide setup.

For a 10g, your best bet for the $ is probably going to be 96watt quad PC.

Either way, a 10g SW tank should have some form of auto-top off even if its just a water bottle with drip valve.

Well for now I don't know if I want to go with any corals just because I have the two 10watt 50/50 Coraline bulbs which is all I can afford. But I did put in a caramel clown fish It's beautiful!! For evap top offs its very easy I find because I do reagular top offs every 2 - 3 days on my 45g and 55g so i just top off my 10g to. It doesn't loose much for evap because of the hood i have. I know that some people may say that having caramel clowns in there will be to much for the tank but I don't mind doing it, its any easy size for water changes and it looks amazing with my newest additions. Pics to come shortly

You can buy just about any form of bulb ever made ranging from 6500k to 17000k at hardware stores. Just ask a lighting expert if thats a direction you went. PCs can be made easy from stuff there too.

Yes pics please. we need more pics LOLZ

Another hitch hicker question. So there is about 4 star fish hiding in one rock, all we can see is there arms. They are white with black stipes. I was told by the lfs that they will eat my fish at night once they get bigger. Should I try to remove them now while i can or wht? They are always in the same spot each day and I never see them out. I would take a pic but my camera can't take pistures of something that small.

Normally you won't see these guys. You'll just notice a small striped or white arm waving out from a hole in the rock. This is their normal behavior and they rarely come out from the rock. They are harmless in the tank and will reproduce if they have food.

Thats a great site too... They have added more sense the last time i looked.
