I thought Eheim-filters came with blue sponges? Green sponges are very often nitrate removing sponges. Juwel always delivers their filters with this green nitrate removing sponge. I've never heard of Eheim doing it, but it could be an idea to check what happens if you run your filter without the green sponge for a short while. See if you will get nitrate when you are not using that sponge!

That is normal for Eheim filters. And you can keep it. It won't remove any nitrate. But there must be something removing nitrate in you tank. I really can't find any sense in your test answers otherwise.

yeah i know me too. What's weird is that i am getting readings on my snail tank but not my puffer tank and this all happened after switching over to the eheim cannsiter. I used the media from the old filter plus the ones that came with he new one. im worried as well. The puffers seem ok but just worried that the tank isnt cycled. i keep testing twice a day on both tanks and get 0's for the puffs and 15's for the snails.

so after 3 weeks with 0,0,0 readings, i finally got 3ppm reading today for nitrate

. Wonder what caused the 0 readings all this time even though the tank was cycled
