How has he been acting?

well he finally ate a snail and some bloodworms last night so I thought all was well.

But then right before I went to bed, I saw him floating at the top completely curled up in a ball and he was floating sideways.
I touched him to make sure he could still move and stuff, and he swam for 5 seconds, then curled up in a bal and started floating sideways again.

Then he sank to the bottom and uncurled, and went to sleep like normal.

Right now he's sleeping like normal.

My guess was that maybe he had a tummy ache because he hasn't eaten for like a week, and then today he did?

I have seen mine floating at the bottom of the tank tail curled floating slightly sideways asleep. Everything fine though I presume...It did give me a scare. I have not had any illnesses, thankfully with my puffers.

Your little guy and you have been through a lot. I wish him well. Keep up those weekly water changes and gravel vacs. It is their life line!

Actually the life gaurd I used was from instant ocean.

How is Chomper doing? Is he getting better?

yes - he is almost all the way better !

he's still acting shy, instead of all excited when we come in the room and near his tank...

he is doing a bit of itching too.....

we've been giving him salt baths and melafix, seems to be helping a big bunch !

Now it looks like his right gill is closed. it actually looks non existant.

what does that mean?

So.... Chomper is now completely back to normal now.....well..... the way he's acting.....

But his right gill is still shut. Should we be concerned about this? Is there something we should do?... or just continue dong what we're doing?

If you look at his left gill, it's open and you can see it working....
on the right side, there's no hole... its so weird.
i kind of think it would be like only using one lung?

But he's acting good and eating good !

It might be something that you can't control and so long as he is acting normal you won't have to worry about it.

Last night we took him out of his tank and put him in a little container and my boyfriend opened his gill and now it's working fine.
He sad it seemed like it was scabbed closed... or like there was a layer of film keeping it closed.
So yea it's open now, and he's doing good, so we're just going to let him relax now, and continue water changes.
I can try to take a pic tonight....
