right ok.Im getting mixed views here getting told to use one and another.The medicine seems to be working on him.but got back from work today and the back two fins have gone white.Is this part of him getting better.how long should it take for him to recover.And how long should i let the new tank cycle for.As i dont want to stress him out more.And you guy's have advised me i need a bigger tank.Which i have bin and bought.

I'm glad he's dong better. Are you keeping up with the large, daily water changes?

ive just got back from work and here is just about dead he is lifeless and all his fins are white his body at the back has this white mucuss stuff which is coming away from his body and has no energy at all.

i picked him up with a net to have a look and let him go and he just floated back to the bottom with no fin movement he is still alive cos hes still breathing and he is still looking around with his eyes.

just dont know what to do with him put him out his missery or keep going and hope for the best he has not ate for about 5 days im abit upset cos he is a lovely fish and i look forward to seeing him when i get back from work he was so full of energy but now im so upset.

i did a massive water change last nite about 90% and started with the the salt treatment and heat. i hope im right here but i used table salt put the right amount and hoped for the best and now its not looking good.

is there anything i can do cos im just hopeing he doesnt die.

Just after you do a water change and only treat the amount of water being replaced.

Ok thanks..I just dont know weather to put him out his misery or not.As i know it isnt fair.But will he get worse before he gets better.As you can tell the fish means alot to me.And im so upset.Iv done everything i can to help him.Please help.

Unfortunately, there’s not much else that can be done other than wait and see. Have you changed most of the water out to remove the King British medication? Keeping the water pristine and treating with salt, heat and Melafix is about all that can be done now. If you really feel like he’s beyond hope, euthanizing is more humane than letting him suffer until he dies. It’s a difficult decision but sometimes its what is best for them.

I have gone for the best option and emutheniased him ..Hopefully he will go to a better place..So now when the new tank comes that i got for him im going to leave it to cycle then go and get another one..

I’m sorry for your loss. To be honest, though, I would discourage you from getting another mbu unless you are prepared to house him properly, which requires a tank of around 3780 liters. A 400 liter tank isn’t anywhere near big enough for a puffer that grows to be a huge monster. There are many other puffers that would do well in a 400 liter tank and have great personalities.

really sorry to hear that:( I know what you went through as I am having trouble with Clooney along the same lines right now. I too agree with Boxer 400L, which is what I have is not suitable for a Mbu to live a full and long life, a fahaka would be better suited if you want a biggish puffer

in a word yes, I shall get something up soon. I hope that markymbu re-considers his choice of puffer for 400L, it is not big enough at all. Nitrates are through the roof
