yep,
I stirred the clove water really well before I put my fish in it...
My fish was weaker too, and hid alot and stayed at the bottom alot too...but I took the chance that it was her teeth...and I guess it was because she is doing soooo much better. Also, it seems like the clove oil just made her feel better.
She still eats MUCH less than the larger one I have, but her tummy is not sunken in at all.
Good luck and keep up posted...
P.S. Dont get nervous about it...it is a piece of cake if you stay calm.

I've found the same thing when using clove oil to euthanize. It works faster if you swish it around in the water.
Interestingly, my kids have started to associate the smell of clove oil with dead fish. I have a lip balm that has clove oil in it, too, and whenever I use it, they ask me if I'm killing another fish.

I make that same association because I have had to put some fish down by first using clove oil in the past...

Ok I bought the clippers. I have been looking for clove oil. I found some pure clove oil. PP article says 3 drops in 3cups but the toothache medication she used is 85% eugenol which is an element of clove oil.
My question is what dose? Should I use the same?

I used pure clove oil and used 3 drops to 3 cups...remember if you have a puffer that is large (4" or over) you might have to use more.

I think it is better to use a small amount and then add more as needed. Am I right in thinking too much in solution can cause burns to the fish therefore not very peaceful

Well I am not sure if I cut them low enough but the puff is up and about and stuffing his face. I have not seen a belly so round on this guy in all the time I've had him. Just chomped through some dried krill. May not be a as short as his buddies teeth but he can eat now and that's the important thing
I'll just keep slipping him pebbles and maybe I won't have to do that again for a while.
Now who do I send the bill to.
